Overview

The Urban Design programme from Monash University is designed for individuals who possess design skills and experience and are interested in expanding their knowledge of urban design. This degree is ideal for professionals working in government agencies, architectural firms specialising in urban design, and urban enthusiasts. 

Learning Outcomes

• Integrate knowledge and skills to translate high level urban design and development strategies into city-based spatial plans, from a perspective of environmental systems and climate resilience;

• Collaborate and communicate effectively in multi-disciplinary teams and undertake stakeholder engagement to incorporate multiple perspectives into urban design and development solutions;

• Evaluate and apply data-driven analysis using data science platforms applicable to urban design and development processes;

• Critically reflect on and apply research and practice skills essential for urban design and planning in Indonesia's public, private, and civil society contexts, as well as globally, while upholding and practising ethical approaches to contemporary urban design;

• Critically assess Indonesian urban design discourses and practices in diverse contexts, applying interdisciplinary methods, as well as urban planning and development regulations, to contribute to advancing urban design, planning and development practices and knowledge;

• Understand and apply the rules of occupational health and safety appropriate to the unit of study.
