Overview

Students will gain foundational knowledge in information security, mathematics, and programming, as well as delve into advanced topics like network security and blockchain.

The Cybersecurity programme from Monash University is designed for working professionals from various backgrounds. While an IT background can be beneficial, it is not mandatory. 

Learning Outcomes

• Critically assess existing systems using the theories, techniques, and software tools that are available in the field of cybersecurity.

• Adapt new and emerging technologies in application development based on an understanding of the underpinning principles of cybersecurity.

• Analyse and document the core issues in building secure systems, evaluate the strengths, weaknesses and propose and articulate solutions effecitvely.

• Competently design secure systems at project and team levels.

• Review, synthesise, apply and evaluate systems and extend them with new technologies through either a significant research thesis component or research-grounded industrial project.

• Analyse issues and solutions in security and system design as they affect general and particular communities.

• Evaluate the implication of ethical issues and norms in privacy and security.
