Overview

The Landscape Architecture programme from University of Limerick  places the Design Studio at the core of your learning. The University of Limerick’s location on the River Shannon offers access to diverse landscapes from Limerick city and its estuary to the Atlantic coast and rural hinterlands. These varied environments serve as your living laboratory, equipping you to work with complex ecological systems and respond to environmental change. 

The MLA has a local, national, and international outlook, with projects and research spanning global contexts. Faculty members bring expertise from Ireland and abroad. The programme is designed to meet accreditation standards set by the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) and works closely with the Irish Landscape Institute (ILI). 

During this programme, you will: 

• Work in a dedicated Design Studio with your own workspace. 

• Collaborate on real-world projects addressing societal and environmental challenges through design. 

• Learn through research-led modules combining design and traditional methodologies. 

• Participate in site and field visits to explore diverse landscapes. 

• Engage with faculty who are experienced practitioners and researchers. 

• Develop skills that prepare you for professional practice.
