In the Spatial Design programme of Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts and Design you will challenge your discipline and expand the territories of interiors and furniture in order to respond to the many urgent questions society faces today. Spatial Design offers preparations for both professional careers as well as further studies at doctoral level.
You will have the opportunity to explore interiors and materiality, interiors and cities and interiors and atmospheres. Related to these three areas of expertise are questions about interiors and their manifestations, materials, and fabrications; interiors and their relationships to individuals, cities and societies; interiors and their politics, ecologies and economies; interiors and their histories and imaginations; as well as interiors and their conditions, perceptions and experiences.
This education encourages and supports you to develop leadership in your field, to re-formulate the role of interior architects and furniture designers, to reflect and critically re-think the discipline and profession in order to respond to the urgent questions contemporary society is facing today.
If you already have a Bachelor's degree in Interior Architechture and Furniture Design from Konstfack, you may after these two years of advanced study at the Master's programme, acquire recognition of your professional status as an Interior Architect from the Swedish Association of Architects.

Through the combination of artistic methods with digital and traditional technologies, experimental explorations and critical reflections, you will develop projects and scenarios, which respond to different contexts and scales. During your Spatial Design studies you will be exposed to and develop new design methods and processes and learn to test and communicate your ideas through different means, which can range from experimental fabrications, theoretical speculations, visual imaginations to the implementation of prototypes and live scenarios. You will also gain an in-depth understanding of the aesthetic, cultural and socio-political relevance of interiors.
The programme includes a number of design driven explorations before continuing with a more individual artistic research. You will be working in studios, workshops, laboratories, on site and undertake field and study trips.
