The MIPDAL program prepares students for advanced careers in IP and data law, particularly within the creative industries. Graduates will be equipped to work in various legal, regulatory, and policy-making roles, both in Europe and internationally.
MIPDAL students will:
- Achieve an LLM and an award from the Consortium Partner
- Learn from Queen Mary’s highly regarded Intellectual Property Law academics and be involved with all the Intellectual Property Research Institute has to offer.
- Learn to grasp and assess the differences and similarities between national legal systems from a European perspective in a number of specific areas of IP & Data Law, and, deepen your knowledge in the law of the creative industries while you’re studying in London.
- Have the opportunity to also study at UC3M in Madrid, University of Strasbourg (CEIPI), TU Dresden in Germany or TalTech in Estonia.

Courses include:
- Enrolment with both QMUL (Online) and the relevant Consortium partner
- Module registration for courses in London (semesters 2 and 3)
- Classes and assessment at the Consortium partner (equivalent to 60 QM credits)
- Dissertation proposal submission to QMUL, with guidance provided remotely
- Move to London for on-site induction at QMUL
- Undertake elective modules at QMUL (equivalent to 60 QM credits)
- Compulsory Entrepreneurship Law Clinic module for students on the UC3M track
- Non-credit-bearing course: "Critical Thinking and Writing in Law" (CTWL)
