Overview

The Water Resources Management and Water Resources Engineering (by Research) program at University of Zambia delivers world class education, research and scholarship, with particular emphasis on application of teaching and research for national development and to solve problems faced by industry and society as a whole.

Laboratory Facilities

Tests that can be carried out structural engineering laboratory include grading of concrete aggregates, silt content, specific gravity, destructive and non-destructive testing (cubes, cylinders, cores, Schimdt hammer) for strength and cracking, tests on clay, concrete, sand-cement and engineering masonry units (bricks and blocks) using compression machines, tensile testing of steel reinforcement bars, compression, tension, shear and bending of timber, density and moisture content for timber.

Graduates of the University of Zambia who have been admitted to the appropriate Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field and relevant to the research topic with at least a Merit: or 8
Graduates of other recognized Universities who have been admitted to the appropriate Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with at least upper second class honours; or
In exceptional circumstances, graduates who posses a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field of study to Engineering and relevant to the research topic with a credit or its equivalent and who have a minimum of two years acceptable professional experience at appropriate level or other qualifications relevant to the pursuit of graduate studies may be accepted for admission.
