Overview

The Project Management program at University of Zambia is part of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The University of Zambia through the Department of Mechanical Engineering in the School of Engineering can offer expertise to all sectors of the industry. The expertise is offered in:

Quality implementation and management

Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)

Metal casting

Project appraisal and planning

Energy utilisation and auditing

Material selection, testing and metallographic examination

Industrial engineering

Design and production engineering (CAD/CAM/CNC Technology)

Plant and equipment evaluations and valuations

Development of equipment for local manufacture

Heat transfer, combustion, power plants and energy analysis

Renewable energy applications

Vibrations and dynamics analysis

Fluid dynamics and turbo-machinery analysis and design

Mechanical Workshop

There is a standard workshop in which can be found lathes, milling machines, shapers, welding, grinding and drilling machines. An injection-moulding machine is also available. There is also a metrology section with various types of apparatus and instruments for precision measurements.

General requirements

The applicants must possess:

Graduates of the University of Zambia who have been admitted to the
appropriate Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with at least a Credit; or
Graduates of other recognized Universities who have been admitted to the appropriate Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with at least a Lower second class honors; or
In exceptional circumstances, graduates who possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with a pass or its equivalent, and have a minimum of two year acceptable professional experience at an appropriate level or other qualifications relevant to the pursuit of graduate studies may be accepted for admission
