The main mandate of the Religious Education (Taught) program at University of Zambia is to provide teacher education, produce graduate teachers of religious education, provide quality assurance in colleges of education, and offer expertise on religion in national affairs.

The medium of instruction and examination for all programmes at the University of Zambia is English. Students admitted to the University of Zambia are expected to be proficient in English Language.
