The Production Engineering and Management at University of Zambia is part of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at University of Zambia. Over the years the Department has evolved into a centre of excellence that promotes goals centering on the research, learning and service missions of the university.

Key Facts

It undertakes consultancy, research and training in manufacturing management, production technology, thermofluids, renewable energy, engineering materials and engineering design.

Consultancy is offered to industry, non-governmental organisations, national and international bodies. This can range from individual expert contributions, specialist testing work to full project management. Research is currently undertaken into renewable energy, irrigation systems, mini-hydro power stations, quality and reliability management, composite materials, and manufacturing processes control and management. Computer aided design and process modelling are also key areas of research. Training activities include undergraduate programme in mechanical engineering, postgraduate programmes in production engineering and management and thermofluids.

Graduates of the University of Zambia who have been admitted to the
appropriate Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with at least a Credit; or
Graduates of other recognized Universities who have been admitted to the appropriate Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with at least a Lower second class honors; or
In exceptional circumstances, graduates who possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with a pass or its equivalent, and have a minimum of two year acceptable professional experience at an appropriate level or other qualifications relevant to the pursuit of graduate studies may be accepted for admission
