Immerse yourself in clinical experiences from the outset through our General Practice Longitudinal Programme (GPLP), as well as community and in-hospital settings. Take part in extensive clinical placements and community work experiences at leading hospitals and clinics across South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales, ranging from rural settings through to the Gold Coast University Hospital and the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service.
Career opportunities
You will be prepared for multiple careers, including in specialist clinical practice, primary care medicine, rural medical practice, medical administration, medical research and medical education.
Graduates of this programme will normally be eligible for limited registration and will receive full registration by Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (Ahpra) upon successful completion of a subsequent two-year internship in the Australian hospital system.
After completing at least one further year of residency in the Australian hospital system, graduates will usually be eligible to start postgraduate specialty training in the clinical environment.

- All applicants are to have completed or be in the final year of completing an undergraduate degree before they are eligible to apply for entry.
- Applicants to the MD are encouraged from all degree backgrounds.
The medical selection criteria comprise three essential components:
- completion of a Bachelor degree or other 'key degree' (see below) achieving an overall GPA of 5.0 or above on a 7-point scale calculated using the GEMSAS schema.
- performance in a Graduate Medical School Admissions Test (GAMSAT) or Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) - applicants must achieve a minimum score of 50 in each GAMSAT section or 123 in each MCAT section.
- performance in an interview with the School of Medicine and Dentistry.
