Overview

Students of the Periodontology course from Maharishi Markandeshwar University (MMU) are trained to perform specialised periodontal surgical procedures including dental implants placement, Periodontal plastic/cosmetic gum surgeries, Bone grafting, Local drug delivery, LASER and Electrocautery assisted periodontal surgeries, Ridge augmentation, Alveolar bone surgeries, etc. Periodontology being a surgical branch gives student the opportunity to develop as a full scale dentist and has a rewarding career.

Programme outcome

• By the end of the course, the student must be able to detect and diagnose periodontal diseases and manage the techniques in practice that give rewarding results to both patient and operator.

• Identify the relationship between the periodontal diseases and the various medical conditions

• Differentiate and treat different periodontal diseases and Instruct the patient on how to maintain proper periodontal health

• Evaluate treatment outcomes and Different treatment strategies and approaches regarding periodontal problems in real-life settings Competency.

• Develop a comprehensive understanding of basic biologic principles with emphasis on their application to the orofacial complex.

• Deliver oral health care to patients from different backgrounds, stages of life, and in various settings.
