Overview
The Hungarian Studies program offered by University of Szeged has two specializations:
- Hungarian as a foreign language specialization. Students will be equipped with the necessary methodological and linguistics skills to teach Hungarian, besides the teaching practice is monitored and supported by experienced mentors.
- Students who wish to choose the History specialization will be provided with profound knowledge on the field of Hungarian history.
Career opportunities:
The diploma qualifies graduates to teach and research Hungarian Studies in interdisciplinary and intercultural contexts. Cultural institutions, Hungarian embassies, Hungarian cultural institutes abroad, or university departments of Hungarian outside Hungary are some of the potential places of employment.Programme Structure

General requirements
- Undergraduate / Bachelor's Degree (or higher)
- Anyone who holds a Bachelor degree in the following fields of studies: Hungarian language and literature, History, Ethnography, English or American Studies, German studies, Latin studies, Neo-Latin languages, Slavic languages, Oriental languages, Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Gerenarl Studies, Aesthetics, Art History, Communication and Media Studies, Film theory, Film history, International studies, Political Science, Cultural anthropology.
- Applicants who do not hold a BA degree in Hungarian language and literature or History but their degree is from the above listed fields, should have extra 12 credit points in Hungarian history/Hungarian literature and linguistics.
- Language proficiency: level C1 in English
- CV/motivational letter/
- entrance exam: online interview
