Overview

The most important feature of the Interdisciplinary Thesis (Daytime Education) Master's Program in Design Studies is that it is interdisciplinary and is structured on diversity. Design is addressed in the material, economic, technological, artistic, spatial, object and environmental dimensions of the socio-cultural context between disciplines in this program. 

Integration, collaboration and cooperation are determined as guiding concepts that will support both theoretical and practical studies for this program. It is thought that such an environment will provide a creative and liberating educational experience that allows for discovery and breaking the mold for both expert designers and research individuals who will continue with design studies. 

The program aims to improve, discuss and sustain socio-cultural life with theoretical and practical design studies and the necessary processes to add meaning and value to this life.

Master Program Outcomes

This Design Studies program at Izmir Institute of Technology will give you the:

• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing using English, accompanied by appropriate terminology, with knowledge of the design field and, when necessary, the disciplines it interacts with.
• Ability to use information and communication technologies such as computer software related to the design field, modeling and prototyping tools at the level required by the field.
• In design studies that require integration, collaboration and cooperation, which are decisive in interdisciplinary interaction, the ability to criticize existing social norms and take action to change them when necessary in order to develop and sustain interaction.
• Ability to adhere to social, cultural, scientific and ethical values and to present these values in all theoretical and practical studies related to the field, in the stages of data collection, interpretation, application and announcement.
