Overview
Through a combination of theory lectures, immersive simulation experiences, highly engaging hands-on small group lab learning with specialized equipment in our state-of-the art hearing instrument specialist lab, you will be able to develop the knowledge, practical skills and judgement required to carry out treatment plans developed by registered speech-language pathologists or audiologists.
Meaningful field placement experiences are integrated into the programme to help you translate theoretical knowledge from the classroom into applied practice within a workplace setting. At the completion of this programme, you will be well prepared for employment in a variety of health care settings including hospitals, adult rehabilitation and children's treatment centres, long term care facilities or, in private speech or audiology clinics, school boards, day cares and retail hearing specialist services.
Conestoga is proud to be recognized by the Communicative Disorders Assistant Association of Canada. Students and graduates of this programme are eligible for membership with CDAAC, the only organization dedicated to Communicative Disorders Assistants across Canada.
Career
Graduates of the CDA programme from Conestoga College work in a supportive capacity with registered speech-language pathologists or audiologists and may find employment in a variety of health care or community settings such as:
- acute hospitals, adult and children's rehabilitation centres or long-term care facilities
- school boards or daycare settings
- private speech or audiology clinics
hearing screening services or hearing retail settings

- An Ontario College diploma, advanced diploma, degree or equivalent in a technology-based field such as Computing, Engineering, IT or Applications Development, with an overall average grade of B or above (as assessed, by country, to Ontario standards).
- Applicants not meeting the post-secondary education requirements but who have 3 to 5 years professional, or software development experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Such applicants must provide a resume. or
- An Ontario College diploma, advanced diploma, degree or equivalent in another field, with a minimum of 5 (five) years of full-time work experience as an IT system or network administrator or in a similar position, with an overall average grade of B or above (as assessed, by country, to Ontario standards).
