Overview
In the context of World Studies, Orders refers to a stable relationship between parts and a whole (e.g. in the sense of multi-level politics and international legal systems), Politics concerns the design of social life in cross-border contexts, Cultures refers to (controversial) interpretations, practices and values of these orders and structures.
The World Studies - Orders, Politics, Cultures at Bielefeld University addresses the diversity of global processes and structures from social, cultural and humanities perspectives and is based on a cooperation between law, sociology, political science, history, literature and cultural studies. It enables the systematic consideration of several disciplinary perspectives that complement and (occasionally) irritate each other. The Master's course aims to encourage and guide students to understand global structures and processes in their interrelationships and to analyze them in an interdisciplinary manner.
Careers
In addition to content-related approaches, the master's program gives its students the skills to independently identify and work on problems and to present the results in an understandable form, both orally and in writing.
