Overview
Key Features:
The Master in Physics at the University of Bari is a two-years program completely taught in English and is divided into three specialized tracks: Theoretical Physics & Complex Systems, Particle and Astro-particle Physics & Advanced Technologies, Condensed Matter Physics & Photonics.
The Department of Physics stands out for its academic excellence and cutting-edge research, participating in national and international projects in collaboration with renowned institutions such as the Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN), the Italian National Research Council (CNR), the European Center for Nuclear Research (CERN).
Thanks to this vibrant research environment, students have the opportunity to conduct internships at leading companies, national and international research centers, and spend an entire semester working on their final thesis.
Programme Structure
Our program is divided into three specialized tracks:
- Theoretical Physics & Complex Systems: This curriculum provides a solid foundation in theoretical physics, with a focus on statistical mechanics, elementary particles, cosmology and computational techniques applied to complex systems.
- Particle, Astro-particle Physics & Advanced Technologies: This curriculum explores the experimental and phenomenological aspects of (astro-)particle physics, including advanced data analysis and big data. The curriculum also covers cutting-edge technologies (advanced electronics, quantum technologies, applications to medical physics).
- Condensed Matter Physics & Photonics: In this track, students will delve into the physics of condensed matter, semiconductors and innovative materials, alongside quantum optics and laser-based sensing technologies. Students will also gain expertise in the design and characterization of innovative devices.
