Learning Outcomes

The Agro Soil Science and Plant Nutrition program from Kazakh Agro-Technical Research University (KATRU) will help you:

To know and understand the basic definitions, theorems, formulas, theorems and methods of mathematical modeling. Apply the acquired knowledge in practice; be able to solve problems independently with further generalization of the results obtained. Master the technique of solving various types of computational problems, analyze theoretical data. To acquire practical skills in the formalization of tasks, the construction of mathematical models and the selection of the most acceptable methods of solution.
Describe the functional and stylistic characteristics of the scientific presentation of the material in the studied foreign language, general scientific terminology and terminological sublanguage of the relevant specialty in a foreign language, apply the basics of business correspondence in the framework of international cooperation.
To present geospatial data in GIS, to carry out their spatial reference and vectorization, to edit projections and scale of cartographic images, to use remote sensing data, global positioning and resources of external cartographic and information-analytical service; to make basic models of spatial objects and data, their organization and management, the main types, structure and stages of creation geoinformation systems (GIS) digital technologies in soil science and agrochemistry.
Describe agroecological and agronomic properties of soils and their suitability for cultivation of agricultural crops; study the phytosanitary and sanitary condition of soils; conduct phytosanitary monitoring over time; identify plant diseases; identify processes of soil and landscape degradation; conduct agronomic assessment of soil cover structures; classify soils into agroecological and reclamation groupings; choose methods for diagnosing erosion hazard and soil erosion, reclamation assessment of saline soils and salt flats; agromeliorative assessment of lands contaminated with heavy metals and radionuclides; express an opinion on the landscape-ecological analysis of the territory and agroecological assessment of lands; conduct bioremediation on contaminated soils to develop measures to preserve and improve soil fertility.
