Learning Outcomes
The Phytosanitary Monitoring program from Kazakh Agro-Technical Research University (KATRU) will help you:
- To know the methodology and ways of development of scientific knowledge, principles and structure of methodological and philosophical sciences. Possess the ability to present scientific material in a foreign language, appeal to general scientific terminology and the basics of business correspondence. Analyze and initiate scientific-pedagogical, psychological, educational situations in the learning process to improve the effectiveness of teaching and upbringing.
- To know the physico-chemical bases of the use of pesticides, biological means of protection against harmful organisms. Possess modern physico-mechanical, genetic methods and the basics of molecular biology in plant protection. Be able to conduct phytosanitary monitoring of agroecosystems using remote control methods - aerospace and hyperspectral earth sensing and other devices.
- To know the specifics of the influence of abiotic and biotic factors on the state of forests and forest plantations; to analyze the phytosanitary condition of tree crops and develop an algorithm for protecting forests and forest plantations from harmful organisms, to know ecology, ways of regulating harmful organisms, their population dynamics, the development of epiphytotics. Be able to use the concepts of ecologized plant protection, virology for health improvement and cytodiagnostics of field crops, potatoes.
- Possess a variety of biotechnology methods in the improvement, diagnosis and creation of disease-resistant and pest-resistant varieties of agricultural crops. Know the algorithm for obtaining and acting on biological products for common and quarantine pests. Know the prospects and methods of conducting scientific research to analyze phytosanitary risks, determine the degree of harmfulness of a quarantine object, have experience in conducting quarantine expertise of quarantined and other plant products.
- Be able to operate with legal economic organizational bases of activities in the field of food and phytosanitary security. Demonstrate knowledge in the field of business and entrepreneurship for the organization of phytosanitary monitoring and control. Analyze the issues of anti-resistant programs for the safe handling of pesticides.
