Overview
Graduates are expected to be able to: understand, apply and deepen the acquired knowledge within the context of new situations and problem solving, in the various areas of sports practices; deepen and integrate knowledge, deal with complex questions, find solutions or issue information judgements in the fields of physical activities and health; sports training, management of sports’ organizations, eco-tourism, leisure and recreation; to communicate in a clear and adequate manner, while using several forms of expression (written, oral, corporal and emotional) in the specific context of an organization or orientation of physical and sports activities.
The Master’s degree in Physical Activity and Sports from University of Madeira is organized in credit units, structured in 4 semesters: two semesters are dedicated to the curricular component; the other two semesters are either focused on the formulation of a dissertation within the specific domains of physical activity or sports, or, as an alternative, focused on the development and application of specific abilities in a professional context, with an internship.
Careers
Graduates will be able to: carry out duties within the areas of sports training; consulting, advisory and auditing within the scope of physical activity and health; management of sports organizations and ecotourism, leisure and recreation activities; work as technicians in gyms and health clubs; technical management, evaluation and prescription of exercise; management of sports facilities, physical and sports’ activities in gyms, clubs, associations, federations and autarchies.

- Copy of ID card or passport
- - Declaration under oath that the candidate does not have Portuguese nationality nor is covered by the provisions of numbers 2 and 3 of article 3 of Decree-Law no. 36/2014, of March 10, as currently worded
- - Secondary education diploma or equivalent, or, if the academic qualification does not correspond to the Portuguese secondary education, a document proving that it allows, in the country where it was obtained, access to higher education
- - Course syllabuses and other documents that prove the subjects taught and obtained by the candidates (not applicable when presenting proof of national exams in your country)
- - Proof of completion of national exams in your country (ENEM for candidates from Brazil)
- - Documentary evidence attesting proficiency in the language the study cycle is taught
- - Proof that the candidate holds the Prerequisites (where applicable)
