- The Nursing Practice (Preregistration) program’s guiding principle is safety of the public and has been designed to prepare graduates for safe and ethical nursing practice.
- The Western Sydney University program reflects contemporary practices in nursing, digital health and education, and responds to emerging trends based on research, technology and other forms of evidence which includes principles of intraprofessional and interprofessional learning and practice, principles of diversity, culture, inclusion and cultural safety for all people and knowledge and skills in pharmacotherapeutics and quality use of medicines.
- Using a primary healthcare framework, the Master of Nursing Practice (Preregistration) program combines theory, critical thinking and reflective practice, while also applying physical and behavioural sciences to nursing. You will study using evidence-based principles, and explore best practice when providing care for individuals, families and groups from diverse backgrounds.
- You will put theory into action at Western’s on-campus simulated clinical practice subjects at a university ranked number in the Top 50 Universities in the World for Nursing (QS 2023). Students will undertake clinical placements in a range of health facilities and community settings.

General requirements
- CRICOS Code: 108310M
- Assumed Knowledge: Students should have at least 2 unit English, 2 unit science (any science) and 2 unit mathematics at year 12 equivalent.
- Minimum ATAR of 90. Students must maintain a Grade Point Average of (GPA) of 5.0 or above to continue their enrolment in the program. If this GPA is not maintained they will be automatically transferred into the standard program after one warning (one semester of further study).
- Students in other WSU science programs who achieve a GPA of 5.0 or greater at the end of their first year of study may be admitted into the Advanced Medical Science program by invitation if sufficient places are available.
