Persons in managerial positions, who have to deal with issues relating to economic, environmental, social and cultural sustainability are often met with challenges that are complex, important and exciting.
Sustainable solutions are in demand in an increasing number of areas, and new guidelines and methods for increased sustainability are constantly under development. There are major challenges to be solved, along with multiple opportunities.
This Sustainability Management degree from University of South-Eastern Norway provides research-based knowledge, practical skills and competencies that will allow you to work independently and judiciously with such challenges.
Career prospects
With a Master of Sustainability Management, you will be eligible for positions in the public sector in local and national administration. You will also be eligible for management positions in the private sector, both in Norway and abroad, and positions with responsibility for project management and management in the non-profit sector. You could also explore a number of career options within research and development.
The Master programme also qualifies you for research training in a range of academic fields within management and sustainability studies, such as our PhD programme in marketing management.

General requirements
- This programme requires a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent. At least 80 ECTS of the bachelor’s degree should be relevant to sustainability management. At least 7,5 ECTS in sustainable business, CSR and/or business ethics are required.
- Relevant subject areas are management and/or related fields such as Accounting and finance, Business administration, Business Law, Culture Management, Economics, Event Management, Human Geography/Regional Studies, Innovation and entrepreneurship, IT, Marketing, Planning, and Political Science pertaining to public, private and/or non-profit Real Estate, Shipping and Logistics, Sport Management, Tourism Management.
- You must also fulfill the English requirements, and have a cumulative grade point average equivalent to, or better than, a C in the ECTS system (we do the grade conversion).
