Overview
Key Features
The Humanities - Egyptology offered by the internationally recognised Philosophy Department at Uppsala University is a two year course leading to a Master of Arts degree in Aesthetics.
Uppsala University’s International Master’s is unique and provides an exciting set of opportunities for undergraduates who wish to further deepen their academic training. The first year of study is built around compulsory components (including a research seminar). Students concurrently take elective courses, some of which are intensive master classes offered by renowned international visiting scholars.
There are opportunities to take such courses not only at Uppsala but also at other Swedish universities. Students will develop an individual study plan with the convener of the Master’s programme and will be assigned a supervisor in preparation for writing a thesis during the second year of the course.
The structure of this course mirrors closely that of a Swedish doctoral degree and will provide excellent preparation for students thinking of continuing their studies at the doctoral level in Sweden or elsewhere, in addition to those who plan to terminate their studies at the Master’s level.
Careers
This Master Programme in the Humanities - Gender Studies provides students with a deep and diverse set of skills applicable across a variety of career paths. The supervised writing of a Master’s thesis and the written course work will develop your analytical writing skills.
The rigorous reasoning and writing skills are an asset in diverse careers including in the administration of cultural and arts organisations, journalism, teaching, policy analysis, and more.
