Overview

This Management MRes programme from Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University will develop students with an understanding and critical appreciation of aspects of research in the field of business and management, such as research paradigms, research methodologies (both qualitative and quantitative), data collection techniques, and theories.

It will equip students with a clear understanding of what constitutes quality research and familiarize them with the research process from the point of inception to project completion.

The overall goal of the programme is to develop well-trained researchers with the ability to identify potential areas for research and the knowledge to study them. Consequently, the MRes Management can act as an obvious pathway for students who wish to study for a PhD. Indeed, the degree is one part of a strategy in which IBSS will identify talented students and encourage them to apply for an IBSS PhD. By so doing, the school will continue to develop both its research capacity and high-quality researchers.

Career opportunities:

• A student awarded the MRes Management would be well-prepared to study for a PhD and then enter academia. An alternative path would be to work for businesses in which research plays a central role, including those organizations engaged in market research and research consultancy.
