Overview
The strength of the MeSVA Department is, without a doubt, the MULTIDISCIPLINARY character which represents the greatest wealth as well as its most important "resource" to be put at the service of the entire University, to favor its development and increase the level of competitiveness not only in the Italian university panorama but also in the territorial context and in relations with its social, economic and productive fabric.
Key facts about Computer and Systems Engineering from University of L´Aquila
The Department has faced the complex "transition" from the faculty-centric model to the "pure" departmental one, with the application, in many cases experimentation, of new organizational and management models that could guarantee maximum integration between teaching and researchwith adequate services for students and researchers. The new "integrated departmental model" aims to guarantee support for research activities and their development in order to plan, evaluate, manage the educational offer, student services, practical and clinical teaching, orientation programmes, internationalization projects, processes for monitoring and evaluating processes and outcomes, the relationship with the "territory". In summary, training that passes through research and assistance.
To the rich heritage of "knowledge" that characterizes our departmental reality, we add a set of technical and administrative skills on which we can and must count for the necessary support for ALL the Department's activities. The integrated research/training/assistance model is therefore being implemented also with the precious collaboration of the TA component, at all levels of action.
The MeSVA departmental model, in compliance with the current Statute, provides for the organization into SECTIONS, defined on the basis of the specificity and peculiarity of the related organisational, structural and infrastructural needs (premises, common services, dedicated technical-administrative staff) . However, to avoid that this model was interpreted as a "compartmentalization" of the different areas (which would be in contradiction with the concept of System), the MeSVA Department has tried to create a close and continuous interrelationship between the representatives of the sections (Coordinators) to maintain uniformity of interventions and actions, while respecting the scientific-training specificities.
On the basis of the cultural specificities and the technical-scientific skills of the various research groups, the "SCIENTIFIC-CULTURAL" areas of the Department were also defined with the aim of designing the "profile of the Department", especially useful for disseminating the multi-knowledge model.
