Program Details

In 1983, the Optical Engineering at in Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) authorized the granting of doctoral degrees for military optics and optical instruments. In 1985, optical instrument was further enhanced with the establishment of one of the first postdoctoral research stations in the nation.

In 1987, military optics was recognized by the Chinese government as a national key discipline (the only one in the field), and optical instruments was recognized as a ministry-level key discipline. In 1997, military optics and optical instruments were merged to Optical Engineering, which has remained a top national key discipline in numerous discipline evaluations by the government over the years. In 2017, Optical Engineering was selected into the Double First- Class University Plan as the first-class discipline to receive national priority support.

General requirements

Applicants should be non-Chinese citizens and in good health and will observe the Chinese laws and the regulations of Beijing Institute of Technology.

Applicants for Master programs should be under the age of 35.

Applicants for Master programs should have a Bachelor degree or the equivalent educational background of a Bachelor degree.

Applicants for English-taught programs should have minimum score 80 in TOEFL or 5.5 overall band in IELTS(English native speakers are exempted).

MBA applicants should have at least 1 year of related working or internship experience.
