The MSc Astrobiology programme comprises a total of 180 credits, including compulsory and optional modules. The structure is as follows:

  • Astrobiology Analogue Rover Mission
  • Foundations of Astrobiology
  • Research Topics in Astrobiology and Planetary Science
  • The Molecular Basis of Life (online only)
• Option Modules (60 credits for on-campus or 30 credits for online):
  • Comets, Asteroids and Meteorites
  • Physical Principles of Astronomy
  • Planetary Interiors
  • Remote Sensing and Planetary Surfaces
  • The Vertebrate Fossil Record
• Research Project (60 credits): A 12,000-word independent research project on a current astrobiology topic of your choice.

Students may also select up to two modules from UCL, including Life in Extreme Environments and Physics of Exoplanets.
