Overview
The Professional Engineering programme from University of Auckland is designed to meet the requirements of the Washington Accord, the global standard for accredited Engineering degrees. This will provide graduates with a pathway towards Chartered Professional Engineers (or similar), and will also support our graduates’ global mobility as professional engineers.
If your existing degree does not have the Washington Accord accreditation and you want to progress your career to become a chartered engineer, apply for MProfEng degree – because the MProfEng is accredited and gives you the option to progress to become Chartered Engineer after graduating.
Career
The demand for civil engineering professionals in New Zealand continues to grow as the sector expands. Our staff performed targeted consultation with over 60 industry leaders from approximately 50 organisations who employ our engineering graduates to design this programme, and many of New Zealand’s largest engineering consultancies support it.
Programme Structure
- The MProfEng will be offered with 180-point and 240-point options, and will allow for full- and part-time study options. Students with three-year Bachelors degrees, such as a three-year BE(Civil), will complete a 240-point MProfEng. Students who have already completed a four-year BE degree which is (typically) not Washington Accord accredited will complete a 180-point MProfEng.
