Overview
Botany, as a field of study, has a long tradition at the Charles University and belongs to a group of evolutionary and ecological oriented scientific disciplines.
The Botany at Charles University provides education in systematics, diversity, evolution, and ecology of vascular and non-vascular plants, algae, fungi and related organisms. The study comprises both theoretical and practical education by means of lectures, seminars, field excursions, and laboratory courses which provide training for research and applied practice.
The graduates elaborate diploma thesis in the fields of systematics, evolution, and ecology of plant species and their populations, and in vegetation and landscape ecology in present and historical perspectives.

Proficiency in English
The single-round exam in form of an oral interview from botany.
The exam is aimed at testing applicant’s general knowledge of the field. The exam includes a discussion about the topic of the applicant’s bachelor thesis and a discussion about a topic for a master thesis.
Examination is assessed with a maximum of 100 points.
During the admission examination, the applicant will present a transcript of the courses completed during previous study.
The admission exam is held in English.
