Overview
What will I learn?
As a student of the Subsea Technology programme at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) you will learn about equipment used in subsea production and processing of oil and gas. You will also learn to analyse both technical and safety aspects of subsea production and processing of oil and gas, both analytically and using digital tools.
You can choose one of the following main profiles:
- Production and Processing Systems; focus on the technical equipment and how to control the flow of oil and gas from the reservoir to the surface optimally and sustainably.
- Operation and Maintenance; focus on safe and reliable operation and maintenance of equipment.
The skills you learn also has uses outside the petroleum industry; safety analysis and materials science has uses in all industries, and equipment currently used for oil and gas has other uses (for example, drilling water wells or carbon capture and storage).
What can I become?
Companies all over the world needs engineers and scientists with expertise in technical solutions necessary to exploit petroleum resources hidden below the seabed.
You can for example work at:
- oil and gas companies
- equipment suppliers
- service providers
- consulting firms
There is great demand for engineers with a master's degree in Subsea Technology now and for decades to come. The skills you learn can also be put to use in other industries.
