About the program
As a graduate with a Master's degree in Biology from University of Southern Denmark, you will gain a broad education which can be used in many different contexts; in the private business sector, in research, in teaching or in public administration.
Biology covers a large spectrum of subjects, from molecules to ecosystems and from early life forms on Earth to climate changes on land and in the sea. Work is primarily experimental, in laboratories on campus in Odense, at the Marine Biological Research Centre in Kerteminde, and the Svanninge Bjerge Research Station in southern Funen, as well as different locations around the country and the rest of the world.

General requirements
To apply for the Master's programme in Biology you need a relevant Bachelor's degree:
- Biology from SDU – gives you a legal claim for admission
When you finish a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Southern Denmark, you have a legal claim for admission to the Master's programme if you apply within three years after obtaining your Bachelor's degree.
You can also apply if you hold one of the following Bachelor's degrees:
- Biology from Aalborg University
- Biology from University of Copenhagen
- Biology from University of the Faroe Islands.
Additionally, you can apply if you hold a similar degree containing basic courses in mathematics, chemistry and statistics, as well as 60 ECTS within biology. The biological courses must cover:
- The structures and functions of biomolecules and cells
- The systematics, structures, development and functions of organisms
- The interaction between organisms and their environment
- The evolution of life
