Overview
At Social Work from University Utara Malaysia (UUM) students will be exposed to advanced knowledge in theories and practice in social work and social services. The mode of study comprises a total of 43 credit hours of courses, a 6 credit hours project paper and a 12 credit hours compulsory practicum training in social work related agencies.
Students at Social Work from University Utara Malaysia (UUM) will:
- apply advanced social work theories in the relevant fields of practice;
- upgrade the existing knowledge, skills and methods to become highly skilled and excellent social workers;
- uphold with utmost integrity the social work ethical and professional values in performing their duties, and
- develop an inquisitive mind to confront and tackle challenges more effectively.

General requirements
- a bachelor’s degree with Honours from Universiti Utara Malaysia or any other institutions of higher learning recognised by the University Senate with a CGPA of at least 2.75; or
- a bachelor’s degree from Universiti Utara Malaysia or any other institutions of higher learning recognised by the University Senate with a CGPA of 2.00 to 2.74 and relevant work experience; or
- a diploma from any institutions of higher learning recognised by the University Senate with at least ten (10) years of relevant work experience, 35 years or older and passed APEL assessment (level 7); or
- any other equivalent qualifications recognised by the University Senate; and
- fulfil the English language requirement as set by the University Senate.
