Overview
Through King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) Master of Chemical Engineering degree you will be immersed in the day-to-day working of a real-world project within the research lab/group under the guidance of KAUST faculty mentors and their staff for the duration of their internship.
You’ll have access and training in all of our facilities and laboratories. The facilities themselves are specifically designed for post-graduate projects and professional research, with state-of-the-art equipment and the latest technologies. They are a place to work together and solve the world’s leading problems, while learning how to use the tools you’ll need for the rest of your career.
We believe that great ideas flow when we’re relaxed, so KAUST offers a balanced lifestyle between studying and conducting research. Through this internship you will have opportunities to pursue your personal hobbies, join student clubs, participate in sports and recreational programs, or volunteer your skills to support a local project.
Eligibility
The program is open to driven students with insatiable curiosity and strong academic background that meet the below criteria:
- 3rd or 4th year Bachelors or Masters students
- Strong verbal & written English skills (no test scores required)

General requirements
While there is no minimum academic entry requirement, those admitted typically have strong grade profiles and clear research interests. When considering a student for admission, we take a holistic view of a student’s background to ensure they meet the necessary academic level and will fit in with our dynamic, international community. To do this we require students submit the following in their application:
- Official university transcripts
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Statement of purpose
- Three letters of recommendation
- Official TOEFL or IELTS Academic score (if necessary)
Degree requirements
Admission to the Master of Science (M.S.) program requires the satisfactory completion of an undergraduate science degree in a relevant or related area, such as Engineering, Mathematics or the Physical, Chemical and Biological Sciences.
