The Applied Mathematics and Computational Science program at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) emphasizes both fundamental and applied topics in mathematics and computational sciences including real and functional analysis, partial differential equations, numerical analysis, classical and quantum mechanics, kinetic theory, optimal control, high-performance computing and computing architecture, uncertainty quantification, bioinformatics system, and many more (for the complete list of courses, please check the AMCS Program Guide).

Specialization

The Computational Science and Engineering Track accentuates the focus on a type of mathematics applied to computation. Thanks to the on-campus presence of extreme computing facilities (a Cray XC40 supercomputer delivering over 7.2 Pflops/s of theoretical peak performance and a range of x86 homogeneous and heterogeneous servers) a broad part of AMCS courses and research revolve around the optimization of high-performance computing (HPC) by means of new architectures and the conceptualization of new algorithms.

Bachelors degree in a subject relevant the program being applied to, from a recognized higher education institution for entry into our Masters programs
At least 18 years of age on entry
A competitive GPA. Typically, 90% of admitted applicants have a GPA above 3.3, and 75% have a GPA above 3.5 on a 4-point scale (or equivalent). The minimum permitted GPA is 3.0.
Evidence of proficiency in English language.

All admitted students receive the benefits of the KAUST Fellowship which supports students for the duration of their graduate studies with full tuition support.

The living costs include the total expenses per month, covering accommodation, public transportation, utilities (electricity, internet), books and groceries.

Funding

The KAUST Fellowship includes:

Full coverage of tuition and bench fees (worth USD $35,000 per year)

A monthly stipend (worth USD $20,000 per year for PG Diploma and M.S. students, and USD $25,000 to $30,000 for Ph.D. students depending on qualifications and academic progress)

On-campus housing (worth USD $7,000 per year and covering utilities such as electricity and wifi)

Health insurance (worth USD $1,450 per year)

Relocation support (visa, relocation and travel costs)

In total, depending on where you travel from and what level you are studying at, the Fellowship is calculated to be worth between $70k and $80k per year.
