Overview
The Biostatistics programme at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee offers an innovative curriculum designed to meet the evolving needs of the public health and biomedical research sectors. Students develop advanced skills in study design, computational techniques, and the interpretation of complex data sets arising from clinical observations.
This Master of Science degree focuses on both classical and modern statistical methods, enabling graduates to solve significant big data problems. The curriculum is specifically structured to bridge the gap between theoretical statistical research and practical applications within the public health landscape.
Students are trained to become effective collaborators capable of managing data for a variety of observational studies.
Why Biostatistics at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee?
Students at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee benefit from the opportunity to work alongside expert faculty on high-impact research projects. These initiatives include discovering genetic causes for chronic diseases and developing algorithms to monitor treatment efficacy or reduce medical costs through electronic records.
The Zilber College of Public Health provides a collaborative environment where students apply bioinformatic and statistical techniques to real-world health challenges. Research expertise at the institution spans genetic determinants of heart disease, stroke, and various cancers, offering students a rich academic setting.
A central component of the degree is the completion of a high-quality master’s thesis based on original research. This project serves as a key indicator of a student's ability to integrate biostatistical methods with public health knowledge to address complex, contemporary medical issues.
