Study programme

Aalto University Aalto University's Master's Programme in Mechanical Engineering Mechanical Engineering builds upon a thorough understanding of core mechanics subjects, which is complemented through advanced studies. Studies provide a solid engineering basis for working in an international, competitive and highly innovative environment.

The programme is flexible and versatile, offering many possibilities for specialisation or multidisciplinary combination as well as support in plotting your personal study path. Our teaching is based on problem-based learning, often solving practical real-world cases in co-operation with industry.               The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00.             • Minimum required score (Grade C):

              180

              C1 Advanced is a Cambridge English Qualification. It reports on the Cambridge English Scale between 142 and 210. You will receive a separate score for each of the four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) and for Use of English. These five scores are averaged to give you an overall result for the exam. Universities and colleges may ask you to achieve a specific score, either overall or for a particular skill.

              Note: degree programmes and applications may require a more specific minimum score for admission.

            Academic Requirements

            Applicants are eligible to apply for a master-level studies in the field of science and technology if they have completed:

            • A 3–4 year bachelor’s degree from a university or the equivalent education. The degree must entitle the graduate to apply for university-level master’s degree studies in the country in question.
            • A polytechnic degree (Finnish university of applied sciences, ammattikorkeakoulu).
            • A polytechnic degree in an EU country if the degree entitles the graduate to apply for university-level master’s degree studies in the country in question.
