Overview
This joint programme allows students to earn a degree from Nazareth College of Rochester, NY while benefiting from the expertise of the University of Pannonia . Most credits are completed in the U.S., but students may spend one semester at the University of Pannonia, with these credits fully recognized as transfer credits by Nazareth College.
Graduates gain in-depth knowledge of the literature, culture, history, and socio-political systems of English-speaking countries, including Great Britain, Ireland, and Canada, as well as modern theoretical and applied linguistics. They are prepared to apply their expertise in business, media, education, publishing, diplomacy, international relations, tourism, government offices, and cultural institutions, and are also qualified to continue studies at the doctoral level.

Master’s degree requirements: 120 credits
Programme structure:
Foundation courses (20 credits): interdisciplinary English language, modern British society, fundamentals of language, literature and cultural studies, research methodology, academic writing in English (5 credits each).
Professional core subjects (20 credits): trends in English linguistics, literature, and cultural theory; historical aspects of English language, literature, and culture (5 credits each).
Profession-specific knowledge (50 credits): applied linguistics and related fields.
Electives: 10 credits
Dissertation-related courses: 20 credits

Entry Requirements
Applicants must hold an undergraduate diploma or higher.
Application without preconditions: Candidates with a BA in Hungarian, English, German, Romance languages, Romology, Slavic languages, Communication, or Media Studies are eligible to apply directly.
Application with preconditions: Candidates with BA degrees in Ancient Languages, Eastern Languages and Cultures, Pedagogy, Psychology, Liberal Arts, Political Science, Social Pedagogy, Sociology, IT Librarian, Primary or Kindergarten Teaching, or Special Education must have completed at least 50 credits in English Studies, with a minimum of 38 credits completed prior to admission. Any remaining credits may be earned part-time at the University of Pannonia. Other undergraduate degrees may be considered by the Credit Transfer Committee.
English language proficiency: IELTS 7, TOEFL iBT ≥95, or another internationally recognized equivalent. Candidates who have completed their BA or MA in English may provide proof of prior studies in lieu of a language test.
