Overview
The English Literature program of The University of Lahore offers an advanced academic environment for specialising in literature, featuring a rigorous curriculum that includes courses such as ‘Contemporary Literary Theory,’ ‘Postcolonial Theory and Literature,’ and ‘Pakistani Literature in English.’ These courses cultivate critical thinking through the exploration of diverse literary perspectives and theoretical paradigms.
After the first two semesters, scholars have the option of writing a research-based thesis or opting for additional elective courses, the former allowing them to make an original contribution to the body of existing literary criticism and the latter broadening their expertise in emerging trends and interdisciplinary issues and debates.
The programme is supported by a team of highly qualified faculty members, including PhD and MPhil scholars with extensive teaching and research experience. Adjunct faculty from prestigious institutions bring additional expertise, enriching your learning experiences. Moreover, scholars regularly attend and participate in seminars, guest lectures, academic conferences and other research fora led by distinguished scholars and visiting professionals, thereby promoting a culture of scholarly inquiry, collaboration and publication.
