About Structural Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Mandi

As our country is going through a rapid growth in infrastructure development sector, we need to develop quality engineers capable of handling specialized projects and be the leader in the industry. We also need to nurture motivated students for higher studies and contribute to the research and indigenous development of technologies.

Keeping these ideas in mind, a postgraduate programme with specialization in Structural Engineering is proposed here in the School of Engineering. Moreover, it is expected to strengthen the goal of conducive development of the local region through this program. With development of the experimental and computational facilities and trained manpower, the institute can contribute more to the local and national need.

Objectives

Making the students conceptually sound with strong analytical skills in the domain of Structural Engineering.

Fulfilling the industry need of trained and capable structural engineer to take up challenging and innovative infrastructure projects.
Motivating students for taking up career in research and academics to support the ambition of becoming a research powerhouse in the domain of structural engineering.
