About Biomedical Sciences at Zewail City of Science and Technology
The research-based curriculum builds on the unique resources and expertise at Zewail City. The curriculum provides core courses that cover the foundation of biomedical research, and prepares the students for advanced disciplines that include Molecular Cell Biology, Biological Chemistry, Computational Biology, Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine, Microbiology and Immunology, Cancer Biology, and Medical Genetics and Genomics. Students will benefit from the advanced laboratories of the program faculty to perform their 15 credit hour thesis work in the specified concentrations.
The program objectives of the master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences include the following:
- Provide modern advanced curricula, and research-based education. Students will master the skills appropriate for graduate level biomedical sciences. They will develop proficiency in concentration-specific material, expertise in research methods, and proficiency in communicating data through presentations and publications.
- Implement research-based education to enable students to acquire knowledge of specific fields of biomedical sciences, to promote critical thinking skills and the ability to research, collect, and analyze data.
- Prepare a research-based thesis to and develop an academic project to completion using higher cognitive skills of synthesis and integration of knowledge.
- Prepare students for careers in biomedical sciences in academia and the industry

General requirements
- B.Sc. from an accredited national or international university/institute, with a minimum grade of 2.5. The Program Curriculum Committee (GPC) can raise the minimum grade up to 3.0.
- A B.Sc. in Science with specialization in Mathematics is required for admission to the M.Sc. program in Applied Mathematics.
- The original certificate and the original transcript of the B.Sc. should be submitted. If the B.Sc. is from an international university/institute, the equivalency by the Supreme Council of Universities is required.
- Applicants must provide proof of English language proficiency.
