Overview
The scheme of studies of the Department of History and Pakistan Studies at the International Islamic University Islamabad is threefold, focusing on Pakistan, the Muslim World and the rest of the World. As a whole, it covers evolution of human society in terms of historical, political, economic, scientific and technological developments happened in all eras and areas of the world.
Outcomes
A graduate of the Department should be knowledgeable, research oriented, and skillful having a balanced analytical approach and world view. He should be keen to serve the humanity without any racial, regional or religious discrimination. It will make him a useful citizen not only of his native land but a source of positive social change within his global village.
With these aims and objectives, the Department hopes to play a significant role for the development and betterment of Pakistan and Muslim World in particular and the modern day’s global village in general.Programme Structure

General requirements
- M.A. in any Social Science Subject with at least 2.5/4.00 CGPA (Semester System) or 2nd Division at least with 50 % marks (Annual System) from a recognized university.
- The required admission procedures include an admission test equivalent to GRE test and an interview.
International students:
- Application fee (US $75); attach copy of deposit slip / challan or Bank Draft or Pay Order with application form favoring IIU Islamabad
- Passport size photographs with blue background
- Copy of Passport Residential Permit (Eqama), Overseas ID card, NOC of /o Foreign Affairs or Your Embassy in Pakistan
- Three copies of duly filled government of Pakistani Permission form (Students’ Information Sheet)
- Verified educational documents (all degree/certificates)
