Overview
Bioinformatics is the theory, application and development of computing tools to address problems and create novel hypotheses in all areas of biological sciences. In the post-genome era, Biology has been and continues to be transformed from a largely laboratory-based science to one that connects experimental and information science.
To date, Bioinformatics has bestowed to advances in biology by furnishing tools that deal datasets too large and/or complex for manual analysis. Examples of some of these tools include assembling of the entire genome, gene finding algorithms, microarray expression analysis, molecular systems modeling, and direct-coupling analysis in probing macromolecular interactions.
Aims
The Department of Bioinformatics at Hazara University Mansehra aims to train the next generation professionals to gain advanced knowledge and learn practical skills that are required in designing and implementing novel methods, useful to define and solve problems with an emphasis on acquisition, interpretation, representation, visualization, and analysis of biological data.
