Programme Structure
Programme Highlights Earn two MSc diplomas in 18 months (90 ECTS), studying one semester in Poland and one in Germany. The third semester is devoted to the Master’s thesis, completed at the university of your choice. The programme offers advanced training in laboratory and engineering techniques, IT tools, and intercultural skills, tailored to bio-based industries and environmental protection.
Courses in Poland (UWM, Olsztyn) Biorefineries and Bioproducts, Molecular Techniques, Environmental Technology, Membrane Processes, Monitoring, Enzyme Technology, Applied Biotechnology, IT in Environmental Engineering, Scientific Writing, Design Thinking, plus a wide range of electives.
Courses in Germany (HSO) Biotech Processes from Lab to Market (lecture & lab), Renewable Energy, Regulatory Affairs, Process Control, Bioethics, Biobased Industries, and electives in intercultural and project management.
3rd Semester Master’s Thesis at either UWM or HSO

The programme begins in February each academic year. Applications are submitted through the University of Warmia and Mazury’s online recruitment system.

Credits
Students earn a total of 90 ECTS credits over three semesters. The first two semesters, held in Poland and Germany respectively, include coursework, laboratory classes, and project-based learning, amounting to 60 ECTS. The third semester is dedicated to the Master’s thesis receive 30 ECTS.

Admission occurs consecutively for graduates who have completed:
- a Bachelor’s/Engineer’s degree with 210 ECTS (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Environmental Biotechnology, Chemical and Process Engineering, Sanitary Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Protection, or similar,
- a Master’s degree in the fields of Civil Engineering, Environmental Biotechnology, Chemical and Process Engineering, Sanitary Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Protection, or similar, but the Master's degree should be preceded by a Bachelor's/Engineer's degree with 210 ECTS (or equivalent).
