Overview

Occupational and Environmental Safety and Health from The University of the West Indies aims to provide training in the recognition, evaluation and control of occupational and environmental safety and health challenges, address the urgent and growing need for the development of a cadre of professionals with competencies in Occupational and Environmental Safety and Health (OESH).

Careers

It addresses the growing requirement for all employers, managers, supervisors, policy makers and public leaders for a functional awareness of the key issues related to environmental and occupational safety and health. It draws on the expertise from the labour movement, industry, governmental ministries of Labour and Health, the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) and Jamaica Employer’s Federation (JEF).

Applicants must have either a First Degree or its equivalent in basic or applied sciences or related areas.

Advanced placement will be made to applicants with prior training in health and safety and suitable work experience while arrangements will be made to bring them up to the required knowledge base of those without prior OESH training or experience.
