The LLM in International Business and Law from Canterbury Christ Church University prepares you for effective roles in the international law and business arenas either as practitioners or as academics, undertaking further research in this dynamic field.
The course aims to develop your knowledge of core concepts and theories in international law and business as well as problem-solving skills, academic and practice-based writing so you are equipped with skills for either a life in academia or practice in the international law and business field.
Key Facts
The LLM initiates you to the alternatives to the judicial process, such as mediation and arbitration, upon which key actors in this field increasingly rely. It allows you to develop the theoretical knowledge of these processes as well as knowledge of the procedural application of these processes in the field of international business and law.
It further engages you in complex moots and oral presentations, so that upon completion of the course you can argue points of law in a convincing and accurate manner. You will experience a variety of learning methods so that you build strong knowledge supported by key skills most desired by employers in the field of International law and business.
Your future career
This course will equip you with the necessary International Business Law knowledge and legal expertise and skills for international practice and academic research at the highest level, as well as for a wide range of other intellectually demanding roles such as; senior researchers or policy advisors for NGO’s, government agencies or private practitioners, commercial law practice, commercial business practice, NGO advisors, civil servants in the financial ministries and academics.

General requirements
- A 2:2 or above in an undergraduate Law degree or 2:2 or above in a joint honours degree where Law is a major component eg Finance and Accounting.
- If English is not your first language you require an IELTS overall score of 6.0 with no element below 5.5 for most standard undergraduate and postgraduate courses. There are some exceptions and if the IELTS requirement differs it will be specified on the course page.
- Applicants without a degree in law or combined honours, but having studied Law as a component part of their degree, will also be considered on a discretionary basis, taking into consideration any relevant work experience. See below under further entry requirements for more details.
