In biological sciences and pharmaceutics, applied statistics are a critical element in determining whether experiment design, quality standards, production verification and manufacturing process for new drug development are appropriate and optimal. These are critically important tools for evaluating the efficacy of drugs prior to commercialization, from conducting clinical trials and evaluating drug efficacy.As such, there is a growing demand for different levels of applied statisticians in academic medical centers, in government agencies, and in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries.

In concordance with the wider academic development strategy, our Wisdom Lake Academy of Pharmacy has set up this programme, powered by the superior discipline and premium educational resources at the University of Liverpool, to provide greater support for biological medicine professionals and future biotech enterprises.


This programme also offers XJTLU-JITRI joint supervision pathway which leverage the strength from both XJTLU and the research institutes and leading enterprises of Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute (JITRI) to promote in-depth integration between industry, education and research. Through the unique training model integrating specialized module study, industrial research practice and dual supervision mechanism, we aim to cultivate cross-disciplinary talents who are innovative, application-oriented and with high-level international perspective.


Graduates of this Applied Statistics programme at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University   will be prepared for pursuing advanced degrees (e.g. PhD degree) or for direct entry into job market in various sections and positions:
