Overview

Instrumentation Science programme at Savitribai Phule Pune University include Sensors, Embedded Systems, Analytical Instrumentation using LabView, Photonics and LASER based instrumentation. This has facilitated not only development of high tech products in diverse fields but also generated the trained manpower for handling these products efficiently.

Key facts

Department has introduced Masters and Ph. D. Program in Instrumentation Science from academic year 1995-96. We strongly believe that hands - on experience is necessary for instrumentation personnel.

We make our students practical oriented through In-House Training and Industrial Project and hence useful to the Industry. Students work for about three months as a trainee in the 1st year and six months in industry for the assigned project in the 2nd Year.

The program is mutually beneficial for both industry and the students. The student gets exposure to both general and specific aspect of the project. M. Sc. Instrumentation Science course is continuously tuned to satisfy the current needs.

Till date, more than 500 students have successfully finished Master’s degree and are excelling in industries / institutions they have joined.

The department of Instrumentation Science was established for bridging the gap between the basic research at the university and the need of the industry, hence conducts a two-year post graduate course offering a masters degree in various courses such as transducer and actuator, process control, Analytical Instrumentation, Micro-controller, Micro-processor based instrumentation, Advanced Communication techniques, Optoelectronics instrumentation, Instrument Organization and Ergonomics.
