Overview

The focus of the Department of Environmental Science has been on teaching and research, dealing with environmental issues important for the conservation of natural resources, geohazards, environmental degradation and biodiversity studies. The teachers and students in this Department have undertaken research activities in the areas of Life Sciences, Earth Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Atmospheric Sciences and Engineering.

The Department has conducted several national and international seminars, symposia and workshops and has organized several exhibitions on problems and issues related to environment and pollution. The students of the Department are actively involved in all these activities.

The Environmental Science programme at Savitribai Phule Pune University is designed to provide orientation towards environmental problems issues as well as in depth training and imparting skills in the various areas pertaining to environmental science.

The Department also helps to acquire knowledge of pollution management and ecological balance techniques which work shoulder to shoulder on par with international standards of environment.
