About

The Master of Classical Arabic from Charles Sturt University prepares you to write and speak in Arabic and understand the Qur'an and classical Islamic texts in their original language.

Overview

Developed in response to a demand for learning Classical Arabic in a university environment, this master's degree in Arabic language is a dedicated language program focusing on developing skills in reading, writing and speaking Arabic, and analysing classical Islamic texts.

You'll study Arabic grammar and textual structures so you can access and understand classical primary Islamic text, learn to read and understand the Qur'an in its original Arabic. You will also develop a proficiency in modern standard Arabic so you can access contemporary Islamic scholarly discourse.

The Centre for Islamic Studies and Civilisation is a collaboration between Charles Sturt University and the Islamic Sciences and Research Academy of Australia (ISRA). Charles Sturt University's courses have been designed in collaboration with ISRA's advisory committee, which includes some of the most respected scholars from the Australian Muslim community.
