The vision of the Information Technology program from Government College University Faisalabad is to technically equipped students by providing support for academic excellence through teaching and promoting research culture to meet the emerging needs of the students.

Features

The College of Computer Science & Information Studies was one of the most prominent and oldest centers of computer education in Faisalabad. The center was established as a separate department by offering ICS program in 1999. The departmental progress journey continued, and offered BS (CS) program in 2001, MCS program in 2004 and MS (CS) program in 2009. BS (IT) was started as a specialized area according to the guidelines of Higher Education Commission (HEC).

Later, Department of Information Technology became a separate department focusing on specialized areas of Information technology. This journey continued, and department offered MS (IT) program in 2014. The department provides excellent computing facilities and ensure the enhancement of practical knowledge to the students.

Department of Information Technology provides a comprehensive range of facilities, which are necessary to perform computing tasks and to solve scientific, engineering, commercial and social problems. The department is equipped with laboratories having advanced technology computers. These laboratories are accessible for all students and teachers.

General requirements

The candidates must have passed MA/MSc or BS 4-years (minimum 130 credit hours) or equivalent degree in the relevant field from HEC recognized institution with at least 50%marks (Under Annual System) or 2.50 CGPA (Under Semester System) for admission to MS/MPhil programs.

The MPhil candidate have to clear University admission test (60% qualifying marks) or GRE/HAT General or equivalent conducted by HEC with 50% qualifying marks.

The respective Dean/Incharge Faculty will supervise the test and interview as part of admission process.
Candidates working in the Government/Semi Government or Private Institutions shall have to submit “No Objection Certificate” from the concerned organization.
