This International Course in Urban and Regional Development from Kyoto University aims to cultivate human resources capable of managing civil infrastructures and addressing environmental issues in diverse countries, particularly in the developing countries of the Asian and African regions.

- The department focuses on 1) innovation of the information technology and the urban infrastructure, 2) disaster risk management appropriate in the highly-sophisticated information society, 3) development of the management technology for the urban infrastructure, 4) development of social infrastructure in the age of globalization, 5) establishment of the urban structure based on the theory of finite energy resources. Considering above mentioned, the department aims to actively contribute to develop the advanced urban system in the highly-sophisticated information society, and to cultivate human resources who can lead the society.

- Nationality: Non-Japanese citizenship required; eligible for “College Student” residence status.
- Education: Bachelor's degree/16 years of education, or equivalent qualification.
- English: IELTS, TOEFL, or TOEIC score required; no published minimum score. Valid for 2 years.
- Entrance exam: English (200 points) + oral examination (800 points).
- Oral exam: Tests relevant knowledge (e.g., Structural Mechanics, Hydraulics, Soil Mechanics, Planning & Management, Earth Resources Engineering, Mathematics) plus presentation/interview on graduation/current research.
- GRE: Not required.
- AAO: Required for applicants with degrees from non-Japanese universities.
